Please read on for some lesser-known grant funds available. The grants are run through DEFRA and can offer up to 40% of costs against new equipment and facilities upgrade costs. They are in two categories:

1: Food processing businesses of any size and located in urban or rural areas can apply for support. The maximum support (at a 40% grant) ranges from £170k to £1.5m ,depending on location so it’s a very impactful grant. They will prioritise those businesses processing agricultural or horticultural products but will also support businesses higher up the value chain.

2: SMEs with less than 50 people and are situated outside urban areas in rural locations can apply for general business grants. This is, again, for facilities development or new equipment. The limit is £170k at 40% grant intervention. All areas are covered apart from North Yorkshire!

If you are looking to invest in facilities or equipment, it’s well worth getting in touch.
